Believe it or not, my first yoga experience was in San Francisco back in 2009 when Bikram Yoga was popular. The extreme heat, the carpeted floor, the static poses — needless to say it wasn’t my kind of yoga. But fast-forward a couple of years and a handful of Hatha and Ashtanga classes later, I went to my first Vinyasa class. Like many lovers of Vinyasa, the dynamic, fluid, free movement completely got me. It was like a warm welcome home and I’ve been practicing ever since!
That exact feeling is what sparked the idea for Vinny. I completely believe that there is a yoga practice for everyone, it’s just about discovering the kind of yoga that resonates with you. My hope is that Vinny plays a role in helping you find that ideal yoga practice, the one that makes you feel right at home. From the teachers and studios we feature, to the content we create, Vinny’s goal is to shift the common misconceptions about yoga and to continue making yoga accessible for people of many levels and backgrounds.
Prior to launching Vinny, I spent my days working in the San Francisco startup world as a recruiter, then shortly after moving to Melbourne in 2015, I made a 'career 180' into creative production and digital marketing. I completed my 200 hour YTT with Yoke Yoga and have taught at their South Melbourne location as well as other studios like Good Vibes Yoga and Kindred Movement.
I love chatting about and learning about yoga just as much as I love practicing it, so if you’d like to connect further or collaborate or just be yoga pals, I’m definitely keen. Bring some sort of pastry and I’m even more keen!
See you on the mat soon,
