At The A Life, we look beyond your symptoms and instead investigate the root cause so we can facilitate optimal health and freedom of movement using an integrative method of treatment that is unique for you.

This approach is an empowering and positive experience as our team is open to sharing the most current research in the health and wellness space and we love teaching you how to make the changes you need in your life.

Preparing for Your Class

When You Arrive:

Our new students always book in for a free 20 minute consult with one of our teachers before moving with us. This is a chance for us to actually get to know what you are looking for and your movement history. We also can tell you what is unique about our studio and the best option to start and ease into a practice.

What to Bring:

Relaxed clothing is all you need.

Behind the Studio: Angela Baklis

Tell us a little bit about how your yoga journey began.

I have always been drawn to Tara Stiles, a Yoga guide in NYC who I had followed for so long as I loved her mantra of living with softness. I visited NYC back in 2013 and went to her minimal warehouse studio to do a Yoga class, and it felt so good! She was so present with everyone who walked through the door and she giggled her way through, and connected with each of us as moved and breathed together. I knew when I left that class I would one day do the Strala teacher training, and a few years later I went back and did just that.. It was an intensive of living and breathing ease and grace which I now live by everyday.

What inspired you to take the leap and open up your own studio?

I love movement, I want to be surrounded by movement and a like minded community. I also believe how we move our body is a lifestyle and I wanted to offer that to my patients who even come to see me for Osteopathy.

Speaking of inspiration, what words do you live by? Name your personal or professional motto.

Slow down, soften, breathe, feel, respond.

What sort of experience are you looking to cultivate whenever someone steps foot into your studio?

Giving someone our attention is our greatest gift. We connect with every person that comes to our studio as we believe this is where rebalancing and healing starts. The A Life is also a very minimal studio. We do this with on purpose so you may have your own unique experience as you move with us.

Describe the kind of music your teachers play during class. What's the music vibe like?

Our vibe is chill and we mix it up... We set the tone with music but don't push one particular genre on you :)

While we're in the neighbourhood, what local spots should we check out before or after class?

The two corner cafes on our block have the goods. Siblings Cafe for the best coffee and Babajan Eatery for an extra special lunch or brunch.

If you could collaborate with someone on a dream project, who would it be and why?

Watch out for The A Life minimal fashion line and shoes...it's on our bucket list :)

Lastly, what are you most proud of when it comes to your studio and/or your community?

Our values and our message! We believe your health is key to doing your best most creative work in this world, and we want to support more people to live with ease and grace.
